The #legaltech world was all abuzz last week with the closing of the American Bar Association’s 2019 Legal Tech Show on March 2. The annual conference brings lawyers and service providers together to talk tech once a year and showcase all of ways tech is transitioning traditional law firm operations. If you couldn’t make it to the show, there are recaps aplenty available online, but a good starting point for information is the Legal Talk Network, which covered various elements of the conference extensively.
Aside from the wealth of information available at and following the conference, there are some great places to keep up on legal tech online. While there is more information out there and more important bloggers in this space than we could possibly name in one blog post, here are a few of our “go-to” gurus and favorite blogs (in no particular order) for up-to-date info on tech and the profession in general:
Lawsites: Bob Ambrogi: Bob has been referred to as the “Godfather of Legal Tech.” His blog is the place to find information about new products and websites that have an impact on the profession.
Lexblog: A network of legal blogs from across the country, including over half of the top 200 law firms in the U.S. founded by Kevin O’Keefe, who recently joined forces with Bob Ambrogi.
LawTechPartners: Produced by law firm advisors Adriana Linares and Allan McKenzie, this blog provides myriad tips for lawyers and often recaps or references Adriana’s New Solo podcast.
Law Technology Today: This is the official blog of the American Bar Association’s Legal Tech Resource Center.
Ernie the Attorney: This blog’s author, Ernest Svenson, is a mobile lawyer who teaches lawyers how to better manage their practices through technology.
Big Law Business: Produced by Bloomberg Law, this blog covers both specific incidents and trends in the profession.
Lawyerist.com: This blog is updated frequently and is primarily geared toward small and solo firms.
The Rainmaker Blog: Produced by The Rainmaker Institute’s Stephen Fairley, this blog offers marketing insights for lawyers and law firms.
3 Geeks and a Law Blog: Three self-proclaimed law “geeks” discuss the administrative side of large law firm practice.
Arizona Attorney: The blog of the very witty Tim Eigo, attorney and editor of the State Bar of Arizona’s Arizona Attorney magazine, this blog shares insights on trends, particular matters, and more.
Speaking of Bar Associations, they produce and curate copious amounts of content. Here are a few of the best Bar blogs:
Georgia Practice Advisor: Produced by the State Bar of Georgia, this blog provides information on office management, ethics, and technology tips and advice from the State Bar of Georgia’s Law Practice Management Program Director, Natalie Kelly, and the State Bar of Georgia’s Office of General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, William “Bill” J. Cobb.
Florida Bar Association Bar: Known as a social media savvy bar association, the Florida Bar’s blog delivers timely content on matters affecting practitioners in the state.
Chicago Bar Association: The Chicago Bar blog is a resource that provides further resources – they curate Law practice management and technology blog posts from bar association and law society practice management advisers from around North America.
Blawg at 401: The official blog of the San Diego County Bar Association, this blog provides information on law and technology, legal ethics, lawyer wellness and more.
